Bybit has announced that it will discontinue services for users residing in Japan as part of a major regulatory compliance shift. The exchange confirmed that restrictions will gradually roll out through 2026, aligning with Japan’s tightening oversight of overseas crypto platforms.
Japanese users classified under local residency must complete Level-2 identity verification and provide valid proof of address by January 22, 2026. Accounts that fail to meet verification standards may face increasing usage limitations and access restrictions.
Bybit stated that compliant users may continue to use services, while additional guidance for confirmed residents will be issued closer to implementation.
