Trust Wallet has officially begun rolling out compensation to users affected by its recent browser extension security incident, marking a major step toward restoring confidence in the platform.
According to the update, nearly 95% of verified claims have already been processed, with remaining payments expected to be completed within the next 30 days. The incident was linked to a vulnerability in Trust Wallet Browser Extension v2.68, which allowed unauthorised access to some wallets.
To prevent further losses, Trust Wallet has advised users to stop using the affected extension immediately and transfer funds to new wallets using the updated mobile app and browser extension.
The company also confirmed that the compensation deadline is February 14, after which no new claims will be accepted.
While Trust Wallet has strengthened its security systems following the breach, users are being reminded that self-custody wallets still require strong personal security practices, including private key protection and safe device usage.
This move is being seen as a positive trust-rebuilding step for one of crypto’s most widely used wallets.
