The official website of meme-coin Pepe (PEPE) has been compromised following a cyber attack that redirected visitors to malicious websites, raising serious security and trust concerns within the community.
According to reports, cyber security firm Block aid confirmed that attackers injected harmful code into the site, causing users to be redirected to phishing platforms and wallet-draining pages. The attack is believed to have been carried out using a toolkit known as “Fisherman,” commonly used by threat actors to deploy fake templates, steal wallet credentials, and execute social engineering scams.
The incident comes at a sensitive time for the PEPE ecosystem, as community trust plays a crucial role in maintaining its market strength. Analysts warn that such breaches may negatively affect user confidence if not addressed promptly.
Users are strongly advised to avoid interacting with the website until an official confirmation of restoration and security clearance is issued by the development team.
