Web3 security reports reveal that 2025 witnessed a rise in total financial losses from hacks, scams, and exploits, even though the number of incidents declined compared to last year. According to recent security data, attackers have shifted strategies — moving away from frequent small attacks toward fewer but significantly larger, high-impact exploits.
This trend aligns with the rapid growth of decentralised applications across payments, gaming, identity services, tokenized assets, and real-world use cases. While Web3 adoption increased due to strong market sentiment and supportive regulations, it also expanded the attack surface.
Total Web3 losses reached approximately $3.35 billion in 2025, up from $2.45 billion in 2024, marking nearly a 37% increase. A large portion of these losses resulted from targeted attacks on high-value platforms, including major exploits involving private key management, authentication systems, and access controls.
